Stereotypes

I read a blog post a few weeks back about a woman calling military wives lazy. Initially, I was insulted. I'm a military wife. She just called me lazy. I thought about all the things I have to do as a military wife that other wives might not have to do. How could she call me lazy? She doesn't know me. That's exactly how. She has made an ingornant stereotype. I know that I'm not lazy. Most of the military wives that I know are not lazy. So, shame on her for making this harmful accusation.

I thought about this for a bit and was no longer insulted since she doesn't know me personally. However, I was saddened by the stereotype. Stereotypes lead to hate, bullying and just negativity in general. All military wives are lazy, just like all black people are ghetto, all Southern folk are stupid and all New Yorkers are jerks.

Stereotypes suck. They do nothing but cause harm. Love and accept everyone.
